Eugene Lambe 5-key D flute with silver head stock.
Playing celtic music is a blast because it creates such a range of emotions: Everything from toe-tapping exultation and celebration, to the deepest of melancholic reveries, and just about everything in between. It's the universal language of the heart. I play classical and jazz too.
I started my career in Nova Scotia playing mostly classical music. I moved to Toronto to study jazz and stayed there for the next ten years freelancing in both genres. I landed in Vancouver eight years ago and became involved in celtic music. Maybe it comes from being by the ocean again, or maybe it's that old yearning for home that strikes a lot of us Maritimers from time to time.
When I was ten years old, growing up in Purcell's Cove, I saw someone playing a flute and I was enchanted. I've played ever since. All my life, music has been my constant companion, my joy and my solace. It's given me wonderful experiences and has brought unique and marvelous people into my life, including the crew of Shenanigan.
